Data Visualization & BI Tools
When I work with tools like Power BI or Tableau, my focus is always the same, turn data into something useful, something that helps people make better decisions.
Business Intelligence isn’t about pretty charts, it’s about making sense of data to support real decisions. That starts with reliable data. Before building any report or dashboard, I take time to:
-
Validate and clean the data,
-
Check for missing or unusual values,
-
Ensure the data structure makes sense,
-
Focus only on data that we can actually act on,
If the foundation is solid, we can move on to analysis and presentation, where clarity is just as important as accuracy.
Reports and dashboards serve different purposes:
-
Reports offer detailed views, often across multiple pages, ideal for deep dives,
-
Dashboards give a quick overview, great for spotting trends or key issues fast,
The choice depends on who’s using it and what decisions they need to make.
I always start by asking:
-
What do we really need to see?
-
Who will use this?
-
What decisions or actions should it support?
Dashboards shouldn’t be crowded, they should be clear. And once something is in use, I keep improving it based on feedback. The goal isn’t to impress, it’s to make things easy to understand and act on.
Power BI or Tableau?
I’ve used both tools, and each has its strengths. But the key isn’t which one you choose, it’s how you use it. A good tool is only as valuable as the insights it helps deliver.
In the end, it’s all about clarity, relevance, and decision-making, not decoration.
